Vizio, a California-based company which is mainly known for making affordable TV sets, is entering the Android phone and tablet market and announced today its first ever smartphone, the VIA Phone.
The VIA Phone is an Android powered smartphone with a 4-inch touchscreen display. It is powered by a 1GHz processor, and offers 802.11 Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS connectivity. The Phone also offers a microSD card for expanding the phone’s memory.
Vizio is a relatively small company and claims, that Nokia specialists helped them develop the phone, but doesn’t say which Nokia specialist Vizio has hired. The company enteres a very crowded market and would face a tough competition by established manufacturers like Smasung and LG.
VIZIO will show off the VIA Phone and VIA Tablet this week during the Consumer Electronics Show and both devices would be shipped in summer 2011.
