Skype comes to the Ovi Store

The internet developed very fast in the last years and with Skype an important step for global communication was made. So it isn’t that much surprising that Skype applications were built for smartphones as well.

Even if the partners of Apple for example, T-Mobile Germany is a good sample, are still blocking the Voice over IP funktion of Skype and limit the functions to the chat version.

But now Nokia has made a giant leap insofar as the Ovi Store gets the Skype app is concerned. The Skype app for Nokia smartphones is not limited to the chat function only but has the chance to use the Voice over IP option.

If a user wants to use the Skype app, a stable internet connection is required. But there is no difference if a a wireless LAN connection or a connection via EDGE, UMTS oder GPRS is used.

Another positive feature of the Skype application for Symbian phones is the price, which is not existing at all, because the app is freeware and so free for all.

For using the Skype app out of the Ovi Store, a mobile traffic-flatrate is kind of necessary, because without a flatrate the costs could be very high which is not the sense of the free Voice over IP client Skype.
