Nokia lost its position as the top smartphone vendor to Apple in AustraliaTweetBad news for Nokia continues. Nokia has lost its position as the top smartphone vendor to Apple in Australia, according to a new new research by IDC. Apple has now 36.5 per cent of the Australian smartphone market and Nokia owns 30.5 per cent share. It could come even worse. Android is growing even faster and by the end of the year Nokia could even lose its positions as the second smartphone vendor. Android has already owns 21 per cent share. Nokia hast dominated the Australian smartphone market since 2002. Now Nokia must speed up the development of MeeGo and bring competitive high-end smartphones as soon as possible to gain market shares again and not to be overtaken by Android. Nokia N8 is a good device, but it is not competitive to iPhone 4 and android-based smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire HD. |
