With certain cheap accessories (EG a gas station car charger) the phone recognizes it is connected via USB and attempts to read and write, however, the leads on the connector are not soldered on and as such the phone keeps sending and receiving until it freezes. if you pull out the cable the phone displays the text "phone charger disconnected!" and the phone automatically resets with out clearing the memory, so when you go to turn it back on the phone has full memory and sticks at the metro pcs screen. pretty much my remedy forced the phone to reset the internal memory on the phone, hence the default background.
